This date was seemingly lost to the ages until the Dead released it from the Vault as Live at the Fillmore East 2-11-69. It was a two show evening with the Dead opening for Janis Joplin. The setlist is the usual variation on what they were playing in 1969 – a magisterial King Bee and a smoking Dark Star>Stephen>Eleven – with a Hey Jude first show closer. The music is more of the phenomenal psychedelia that the band was busting out all through that year. It is definitely worth a listen and is a great addition to anyone’s collection.
