“With no studio recording by the Grateful Dead, Playing In The Band is one of those Dead songs for which the definitive version is on a live album, along with songs like Bertha, Wharf Rat, Tennessee Jed, Brown-Eyed Women, and Ramble On Rose. It was, however, released on TWO studio albums by members of the Grateful Dead, on Bobby’s Ace and Mickey’s Rolling Thunder.
