12-31-1985 – Midnight Hour

“In the early days, Midnight Hour was a Pigpen-led showstopper, complete with a big jam section in the middle similar to what the Dead did with Dancing In The Street and Good Lovin’. After the Dead’s final show at the Fillmore East 4/29/71, it was dropped until 1982, when it returned 12/31/82. It was played 25 more times 1982-1994, including being the first live Grateful Dead song I ever saw the band play when they opened the show with it at my first show 3/26/87 in Hartford.” – David Lemieux
