It’s A Far Gone Lullaby, Sung Many Years Ago

Dear Grateful Dead of the Day community,

Normally today, Margaret and I would be putting together the show notes for our latest episode of the Heads’ Tales podcast. Unfortunately, we are instead both caring for parents – Margaret’s father and my mother – who have fallen gravely ill the last two weeks.

As anyone who has cared for an ailing parent knows, our lives have been a whirlwind of stress and bad news. Fortunately, there have also been a few powerful moments when we recognize the opportunity we are now afforded to return some of the love that they have demonstrated for us over our lifetimes. And we have also had ample chance to appreciate the kindness of friends and strangers who have provided help, comfort, or simply a smile.

I am writing this not to gain sympathy but to explain why we have not been actively adding features and content to Grateful Dead of the Day at the same rate we had been. I also hope that this note will cause you to take a moment to tell someone you care for them or simply pass on a little love – a smile, a small kindness, whatever – to a friend or stranger.

We hope to be back making Grateful Dead of the Day even better soon. Until then, keep enjoying the music and spreading the love. And know that we appreciate you all so much.

Jeff, Margaret, and the rest of the Grateful Dead of the Day crew

Dear Margaret and Jeff, hoping there’s some silver linings in the clouds, gotta cherish the memories of better times, keep the faith. They’re lucky to have you and you’re lucky to have them. Hoping for the best…
