I believe the Not Fade Away>Easy Wind comes from the lost reel, most likely held by a collector who hasn’t put the full reel into circulation. It is my hope that the rest of the show will surface. My intent is to circulate at least this portion separately from its obscure placement in “San Franciscan Nights 2.” Not Fade Away is a rare 1969 version, the first complete performance since 2/19/69. The Dead did not start performing it regularly until 12/21/69. Easy Wind is an early version, which cuts out.
