sun was shining brightly. They were introduced and any unfulfilled expectations were gone. uncle johns band soared through the mountain air. Phil delivered powerful exclamations throughout. Into playin and back to uncle johns was the most enjoyable opener i experienced. Everthing after that was perfect. during eyes of the world I remember seeing birds flying over the venue. during sunshine daydream i was near the mixing board and saw all the levels on 10. the sound was the loudest i witnessed at any dead show. afterwards I found out that the acceptable decible output for an event was raised by the boulder city council a few weeks earlier. guess they were testing how high they could go. brokedown encore capped a wonderful celebration. Damn I miss that band

What I remember about that day was the perfect closer “Brokedown Palace.” I went home that night and learned it on my guitar. Warren Zevon opened both days. After the show we sat on a patch of grass giggling as the crowd filed out. A hippie with a bag over his shoulder reached in and tossed us two Steal Your Face buttons. Still have them to this day.
