Half Step, just like the previous night, is ridiculously hot. And the Sugaree is up there as one of the best ever, though one could say that about New Haven, Atlanta, and Hartford, at a minimum, on this immaculate tour. And, once again, the Music Never Stopped is off the charts. The second set is sublimely perfect, beginning with a rare Estimated opener that rises into the stratosphere. From there, the Scarlet> Fire, particularly the Fire, is just so verdant and pungent. The rocking continues on the Good Lovin’ that follows. Then, after a lengthy break between tunes – one of many throughout the night – Jerry brings some of his most resonant vocals and the boys deliver the goods on a resplendent Ramble on Rose. And the magic continues as the boys put a Samson, followed by Terrapin, right into one of the best post-’74 Dews that the band mustered. Jerry is just on fire throughout the evening, both with his guitar and his amazing vocals.
