This was the last evening of the Dead’s 1986-opening five-night run at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center. Apparently there was some wicked flooding in San Fransisco on this night, making the weather hellish outside; the Dead, as always, were on it with the Cold Rain and Snow.

“tullie” on Archive relates some of his difficulties at the show back in 1986. Coming straight from work and dressed in a suit, he was set to meet his girlfriend, Caroline, outside the venue. After circling the place ten times in the pouring rain, he finally gave up on finding her, assuming that she had stayed at home because of the weather. He miracled someone her ticket and headed into the show. When he got home, he found out Caroline had been at the convention center lot, looking for him. We do not know how the relationship turned out.
