The second date for the Dead in 1989, and right out of the gate, the band has made it clear they have shook off the remaining cobwebs from the night before. Unfortunately, the crew still needed to get a few sound issues ironed out. But this time did allow Brent the opportunity to present a short little riff. Jerry follows with a rare few words, and then they go into a fun Beer Barrel Polka. From there, the first set rocks, with a melancholy, almost pleading Sugaree. The second set is a typical late 80s rocker, with a fast and furious Scarlet transitioning into a L L Rain to really get things going after the solid Bobby tune, Hell in a Bucket. The rest of the set is top-notch, and Jerry delivers on the Stella. It is just an all-round fun show and continues to foreshadow the tremendous year that 1989 would become for the Dead.
